Outlaw RC

Suwanee, GA

What do you get when you have an empty industrial park lot and some guys with way too much time on their hands? Outlaw RC that's what!

Just click any of the thumbnail photos you are interested in and you'll get a full screen view. When you see a photo you like, right click on it and either save it to disk or make it your background screen. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did watching you fly.

Here's a low speed flyby. The wind was over 15 mph and gusty so precise control was tough...

Now for a high speed pass and I almost missed him!

Once more around the patch...

One last quick circle around the field while a J3 is in the pattern.

Now, we go downwind and turn on FINAL... where is that J3?

Right below at 12 O'Clock! It's tough to see a J3 at Mach 2... Too bad I didn't get a photo of the impact. I've been flying RC since 1970 and I've only seen a few mid-air collisions.

With great skill and a lot of luck, the Outlaw RC pilot got his plane back on the ground with one aileron and part of the vertical stabilizer missing.

The J3 was missing a lot more. Parts were floating down for 5 minutes.

Here's the biggest piece. I don't think this one is rebuildable.

Some solvent and an old tooth brush and this engine should be fine.

Right next to us was an Outlaw biker outfit. Check out the kid on the pocket rocket dirt bike. He looked like he was about 8 or so.

Jason took the floats off this one. There is a tiny strip of a pond, but not enough water to take off and land from.

Way out there, it's time to turn back for a high speed run.

A low and slow pass with a vertical climb out.

Woops, BUSTED... It's time to move on. The rousted the bikers and then came after the harmless RC guys. Darn bikers anyway.

One last pass around the field and we'll head back to the barn.

Woops... It went 'BANG' and don't work anymore...

It's a compound fracture of the fuselage. Some glue, some wood, and we'll be back next week.

Hey, here's the broken place. Anybody got any duct tape? If you use duct tape for a permanent repair, you too might be a red-neck. <big evil grin>
